We had a fabulous day at our recent TN22 lunch club meeting. The day stayed nice and dry for a change which always helps and it was sunny inside the hall as well as outside. We transformed the hall into a welcoming venue for our members.
Susanna Steer returned in the morning to entertain us with some songs from the 60’s and 70’s and we all joined in with various percussion instruments that she provided and we kept in time to the music (well almost…). It is surprising how many of the words we actually do remember from the songs as we sang along and it was a trip down memory lane for us all. However, I would say that reading the lyrics of Hi Ho Silver lining – was quite a revelation – you might want to check them out as I am not sure what I sang when I was growing up!..
For lunch we had sweet and sour chicken followed by Lemon Meringue pie and both were freshly cooked in the hall kitchen by our cook.
Some of our members returned books to our TN22 library and borrowed others. We currently have a large selection of books to choose from and our members have some very varied reading tastes.
TN22 Lunch Club provides an enjoyable day aimed at older, vulnerable and socially isolated members of our community in the TN22 & TN21 postcode area. We meet on a Wednesday on a fortnightly basis. You can always be sure of a warm welcome along with entertainment and a delicious lunch.
