Our theme was Seafaring for our first meeting in October. We had a lot of fun with nautical and pirate words, ooohh arrr me hearties, plus music, poetry and painting ceramic lighthouses complete with electric tealights to put in them. In the afternoon we had a session of โ€˜deck gamesโ€™ – balloon tennis, balloon hockey and eggโ€™nโ€™spoon races. Many a sailor has whiled away a few hours on deck playing such games! (Hehehehe!). The competitive spirit, as always was both surprising, funny and heart-warming โ€“ everybody wanted a go and so we tried to encourage this whilst holding on lightly to make sure no-one tripped up in their enthusiasm!!

Last week our autumnal theme and decor matched the beautiful colours outside the wide picture windows of the hall and we got the grey cells going with some autumn word challenges. We had poetry which ranged from Mark, our resident poetโ€™s lyrical โ€˜Autumnโ€™ to Bill, our other resident โ€˜poetโ€™ (think Pam Ayers with trousers!) who brilliantly retold a funny rendition of an autumnal historical event, to us all reading aloud Keatsโ€™ wonderful Ode to Autumnโ€ฆ โ€˜Season of mists and mellow fruitfulnessโ€ฆโ€™

Two of our lovely vonlunteers, Linda and Lesley, did a fab job of entertaining us with their puppets plus allowing us to have a go as well! Thank you both SO much for the trouble you went to  set it all up.

A fabulous roast dinner was served by our chef Brenda which ticked everybodyโ€™s boxes judging by the empty plates and also a wonderful fig cake! Gosh, we do get looked after well!!

Birdie the country singer was on fine form in the afternoon and really energised us all with her bubbly personality and wonderful song choices. We do so enjoy her visits.

TN22 Plus Club caters for those with mild to moderate dementia, helping them to socialise and take part in stimulating activities in the form of crafts, gentle exercise, music and conversation. Care and companionship are paramount and we have an excellent ratio of volunteers to members. We run fortnightly on Wednesdays in Hadlow Down Village Hall from 10.30 until 3.30, a hot nutritious meal is provided at lunchtime.

To find out more about the club, volunteering opportunities or to book a taster day please call Wendy Coleman on: 07961 450357. Alternatively you can email us at : info@tn22clubs.org

Also if you have some spare time on your hands, maybe you would consider volunteering with us? We welcome offers of help both within the club and also driving to collect and return members who do not have transport. Again, if this is something that interests you please donโ€™t hesitate to contact us – your help will make a huge difference to the service we provide.
